Vancouver is buzzing with energy leading up the Canucks upcoming Stanley Cup appearance. It’s been 17 years since their last trip to the finals and Vancouverites are restless. The vibe reminds me of what it was like in the city during the 2010 Olympics, vibrant and bustling with people connected to each other and place. According to a recent poll conducted by IPSOS, 8 of 10 British Columbians are excited, its not just die hard fans, it’s most of the province! It’s not just about hockey, its about place, pride and community and its great for the local economy.
Watch Game 1 with LOCO – Vancouver’s Vibrant Business Community

Come downtown, connect with leaders at the center of the buy local space and enjoy the energy of the city and the game. Speakers will give updates on their projects during the game intermissions and there’ll be some local drinks and appies to feed the crowd. Want to know what’s its like to live uber Canadian? Darren Barefoot’s on that mission this year with his One Year, One Canadian campaign. He’ll be there. Kierstin De West from Conscientious Innovation has been researching what drives consumer behaviour to buy local, her insights are sure to be of interest and value in how we’re all creating change. 10% Shift will also be in the house to talk about how they’ve been working to move more dollars into purchases at locally owned businesses.
